Measuring The Sagittal Condylar Inclination Of Individual Normal Occlusion Testees By Using Computer-aided Diagnosis Axiograph

OBJECTIVE：By using computer-aided diagnosis axiograph (CADIAX) tomeasure the sagittal condylar inclination (SCI) of a healthy person with intact dentitionand good stomatognathic function, this research takes a statistical analysis to find therules of dental distribution and an occlusal index system that suits adult people inLiaoning Province with the aim of finding a customized SCI that suits individual patient,which can facilitate the curing process of patients with dentition impairment and helprestore the normal occlusal status.RESEARCH OBJECT AND METHOD：This research randomly chooses32testees from college student volunteers and outpatients with individual normal occlusalcondition (16males,16females with the age range of18～33, average age:25). It usesthe CADIAX III made by GAMMA DENTAL Corporation in Austria to measure theSCI of the testees and makes a comparison with the average value frequently used inrecent clinical restoration or that of protrusive condylar guidance inclination (i.e. SCI,30degree) used in semi-adjustable articulator. The research data are analyzed by theSPSS11.5Software and investigated on the level of α=0.05to see the statisticalsignificance of comparison.RESULTS：By measuring the32testees with CADIAX III, this research collectsthe data of SCI of adult people in Liaoning Province with intact dentition and goodstomatognathic function. The maximum value of the testees’ SCI is57.75, and theminimum38.50,95%confidence interval (CI) is46.58～50.74. Through themultivariate analysis of variance, the research finds that gender and the category ofANGLE occlusion have made the individual difference:95%CI of male’s SCI is49.63～54.62,95%CI of female’s SCI is42.73～47.66;95%CI of ANGLE I is 43.69～49.67,95%CI of ANGLE II is48.54～54.24.CONCLUSIONS：(1) There is statistical difference between SCI of32individuals with normal occlusion measured by CADIAX III and the average valuefrequently used in recent clinical restoration or that of protrusive condylar guidanceinclination (i.e. SCI,30degree) used in semi-adjustable articulator.(2)Gender and the category of ANGLE occlusion are the two factors that havemade the individual difference of SCI.(3)The95%CI value of male is higher than that of female.
