Objective:Through to the epidemiological investigation the population aged over55years’ old in lvliang region of shanxi province, we will have an understanding of the prevalence rate of ET in the region. We will get a research of ET whether ET is associated with brain aging, region, age, gender, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and the neck atherosclerosis, dyslipidemia, homocysteine, et, which will affect the occurrence of ET and course of the disease. Methods:From August2012to November2012in lvliang area, we investigated the residents in Kangcheng town and Caijiaya township, who were over55years’ old. We applied the census method according to the strict criteria. The ET patients, who should be the local resident population, were selected according to the strict standard of core and non-core standard. When investigating the residents should be included who immigrated to the village committee more than one month and emigrated from the village committee less than one month. The population should be excluded who moved in the committee less than one month and emigrated from there more than one month. All residents who met the eligibility criteria would be registered. We adopted cross-sectional study which was based on the census method. We used the way which was combined centralism with home visiting. And face-to-face questionnaire was also used. The absent residents who met the inclusion criteria was given three continuous visits. In order to reduce errors, the survey was preceded in two stages including screening and case diagnoses. The ordinary investigators who were trained with the relevant questionnaire used the questionnaire which was named 《the screening questionnaire of the related diseases of the nervous system in the residents in Malu town of Jiading district》. The investigators would screen door to door. We contacted3765cases. Finally120cases were diagnosed with ET. The cases of completed data had1280cases. The ET cases with blood samples had73cases.I will apply SPSS17.0software to establish the database. The data will be analyzed statistically. The chi-square test and Logistic regression analysis will be used in the statistical methods.Results:1. The prevalence rate of ET in Kangcheng town was2.36%. And the prevalence rate in Caijiaya township was4.73%. The composite prevalence rate in two regions was3.19%.2. Through the chi-square test, the probability of age was0.027, which was less than0.05. The difference was statistically significant. After Logistic regression analysis, the probability was0.098, which was less than0.10. The difference was statistically significant.3. After Logistic regression analysis, the probability of region was0.013, which was less than0.10. The difference in the two regions was statistically significant. And the OR value was1.832. The probability of TG was0.035,which was less than0.10. The difference was statistically significant. And the OR value was0.493.4. In Single factor analysis, the probability of hypertension, diabetes, smoking, and the neck atherosclerosis, LDL, HDL, TC, HCY, etc. was more than0.05. There was no statistically significant difference. Conclusion: 1. In single factor analysis, the prevalence rate of ET increased along with the age increasing. But in multiple factors analysis, the probability was0.098, which was greater than0.05. It can prompt that there was no significant correlation between age and ET. Maybe it is related to interactions between various factors.2. The prevalence rate of ET had differences between different regions. The prevalence rate in Caijiaya township is higher than in the Kangcheng town.3. The level of TG is a protection factor for ET.4. ET was not significantly associated with hypertension, diabetes, smoking, and the neck atherosclerosis, TC, LDL, HDL, HCY, etc. It indirectly reflect that the ET has no significant correlation with aging brain.
