E-cad is one of the Ca2+-dependent cell adhesion molecule family. It plays an important role in maintaining the normal morphology and structural integrity of epithelial Cells. E-cad is a principal homogeneous ask mediated adhesion of calcium-dependent transmembrane glycoprotein. The motif is a conserved region in the process of protein evolutions and it usually plays an important role in protein functions. Thus, the analysis for characteristic motif of protein sequence of E-cad becomes increasingly important for protein function study. Searching sequence conserve motifs, E-cad protein functions are found. To better understand the E-cad adhesion mechanism,142E-cad sequences are extracted from Swiss-Prot database。InterPro、MEME and PROSITE are used to analysis the E-cad sequences motifs whose sequence consistency (identity)(sequence between identical part and the proportion of) is less than or equal to25%.14major functional motifs are determined by Interpro and50motifs are received by using MEME. Finally Interpro、PROSITE and MEME are integrated to got characteristics motifs, then, these motifs can search out the structure and features of proteins, residual constraint ligand and biological function of the active sites, which can provide reference for theoretical research and biology experiment.
