Objective:to evaluate the value of excision of wire-guided localization(WRL) for nonpalpable breast lesions(NBL) guided by mammography. Methods:During April2011to November2012,55patients with nonpalpable breast lesions which shown as multi micro calcifications or irregular shape were enrolled. They were all female, with average age48.2years. There were38lesions locating in up-outer quadrant and17in other quadrants.Excision of WRL guided by mammography was performed in all patients and further confirmed by pathologic diagnosis.Results:all55cases (100%) were localized accurately and excised completely, with53lesions dissected completely during fist dissention, while reoperation was needed for2lesions. There were eight patients with breast invasive ductile carcinoma, eleven patients with duct carcinoma in situ, three patients with serious atypical hyperplasia, eight patients with adenoma and20patients with hyperplasia. Complications such as infection, pneumothorax or wire break were not observed.Conclusions:wire-localization guided by mammography is useful for diagnosis of nonpalpable breast lesions...
