The history of Chinese Sanitary Sachet can be divided into four sections by etiology of plague, sense of prevent and plague medicine. They are pre-Qin, Qin to Sui Dynasty, Tang to Yuan Dynasty and Ming, Qing Dynasty. In pre-Qin days, people had a tentative idea of etiology of plague and tried to find plague medicine. During Qin to Sui Dynasty, carrying a sachet had become a habitude. From Tang to Yuan Dynasty, doctors paid much more attention to prevention of plague and lots of Sanitary Sachet recipes were found in old Chinese medical scriptures. In Ming and Qing Dynasty, the etiology of plague had reached a new level. And the theory of external therapy had been established which became the foundation of Xiangpei.25recipes could be found in old Chinese medical scriptures. We could find some basic results by making statements on the frequency of occurrence, category, aloes or not and channel tropism. This is the foundation of intensive study of recipes.Based on the fact that people get plague through mouth and nose and the first organs that infected are lung and stomach and the specific character of medicine in recipes, we could make a conclusion that Sanitary Sachet acts a part in avoiding pestilence and strengthening.Sanitary Sachet is still used very often and has a good impact. But the research about it is few and need to be further deepened which will lead a better development of Sanitary Sachet today.
