Objective To investigate the preliminary application of Un-enhanced GSI(GemstoneSpectral Imaging) on different of thyroid nodules. Methods Forty-four patients with thyroid nodules were recruited in this study.Un-enhanced GSI were analyzed, including optimal CNR monochromatic images andpolychromatic images, energy spectral curves, iodine-water concentration and Effective-Z.Results Among these44patients,8were diagnosed as thyroid carcinoma,28werenodular goiter and8were thyroid adenoma. Subjective image quality was higher on optimalCNR monochromatic images than on polychromatic images (P=0.000). The energy spectralcurves of thyroid adenoma and thyroid adenoma were fast descending type, while the curvedisplay as slow descending or ascending type in thyroid carcinomas; Iodine-waterconcentration of benign thyroid nodule was more than that of malignant thyroid nodules(P=0.00), while thyroid adenoma and thyroid adenoma were similar (P=0.187); Water-Iodineconcentration was found no significant difference between them; Effective-Z in nodular goiterwas bigger than thyroid carcinoma (P=0.021), while there was no significant difference inother types of thyroid nodules. Conclusion It is promising to apply GSI with multiple parameters in differentiation ofthyroid nodules.
