The breast conservative operation is currently primary treatment method ofbreast cancer. The breast conservative operation requires accurate and fast marginassessment of breast cancer (evaluation of surgical margins). It should be ensured thatresidual cancer tissues are completely cleared before the end of surgery to avoid thesecondary surgery.Bio-impedance is sensitive to physiological and pathological status. Themeasurement of bio-impedance is non-invasive, harmless, simple and so on. More andmore experts and scholars pay attention to this technology. The intraoperativemargin assessment of breast cancer focus based on bio-impedance has no negativeinfluence on tissue staining and pathological sectioning process. The quickassessment process decreases the possibility of secondary surgery and suffering ofpatients.The work mainly focused on three aspects: the establishment and optimization ofthe hardware system, a complete design of control system and parameter optimizationof tissue characteristics. These would contribute a lot to clinical application ofbio-impedance technology in breast cancer surgery.On the hardware side, in this paper, based on the actual clinical needs, breastcancer surgery margin assessment system on bio-impedance measurement principle isdesigned. In process of designing, stability, convenience, easy maintenance andmeasurement of high-precision are mostly considered. The work also included testingand analysis of the various modules of the system and its performance, which focusedon the error analysis and correction of the source module, demodulation module andthe system as a whole.On the software side, the paper talked about the design of functions in softwaresystem. The work includes location method of six faces, an open algorithm moduledeveloped on MATLAB and LabVIEW cross-compiling platform, modules likesystem status detection and database which greatly reduce system error and realizeself-testing module could reflect the gain and offset of the demodulation module. The software system platform based on LabVIEW platform enhanced the reliability andintegrity of measurement system.On the characteristic parameter exploring side, with analysing vitro breast tissuebio-impedance, different tissue impedance value and trend have the difference andbio-impedance trend is relative stability. By employing the relationship of imaginarypart, real part, die value, phase angle with the frequency, and the relationship of realpart and imaginary part, the parameters to assess breast cancer margin are explored.
