Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different prosthodontictreatment using in patients with hypodontia.Methods: The patients with hypodontia were given different prosthodontic treatmentaccording to patients’ oral situation, age and subjective will, such as fixed partialdentures, removable partial denture, and complete denture. Prostheses were analyzedfrom the aspects of retention, masticatory function and periodontium of residual tooth,temporal-mandibular joint and the facial bones were evaluated from CBCT6-monthlater.Result: All patients and their parents were satisfied with the improvement on facialesthetics and retention when their treatment completed. After6-month follow-up, allpatients presented significant improvement in oral function and psychosocial activi-ties. The prostheses exhibit good retention and stability, CBCT showed that the peri-odontium of residual tooth had no lesion, and the mandible and maxilla were beingdeveloped.Conclusion: For the restorations of patients with hypodontia, the ideal treatmentneeds the cooperation of orthodontics, prosthodontics and implantology. We find thatthe conventional prosthodontic treatment such as fixed partial dentures, removablepartial denture, and complete denture also can achieve desired results.
