Objective: To investigate the effects of gastric banding in vitro on weight, insulin resistance andGlucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) of obese rats.Design: SD rats were fed on high-fat diet to induce obesity. The21obese rats were randomlydivided into three groups (control group, cummerbund group, and gastric banding in vitro group).During a follow-up of16weeks, Rat’s food intake, body weight (W), body mass index (BMI)was recorded. And the fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting insulin (FINS), Gluagon-likepeptide-1(GLP-1) were checked before and after the procedure. Homeostasis model assessmentfor insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated according to the formula.Results:①The weight, FINS, HOMA-IR, GLP-1of high-fat diet group were higher than that innormal diet group (p<0.05). The FBG remained the same (p>0.05).②In gastric banding in vitrogroup, the food intake and weight decreased during the follow-up of16weeks (p<0.05), theFINS, HOMA-IR were lower significantly compared with control group and cummerbund group(p<0.05), while the GLP-1increased(p <0.05). But there was no significant change in FBG(p>0.05).③In cummerbund group, the food intake and weight decreased, the FINS, HOMA-IRwere lower (p<0.05). The GLP-1of cummerbund group was higher than that of control group,lower than that of gastric banding in vitro group (p<0.05), but the change has no significancewhen compared to that before procedure (p>0.05). The FBG remained the same (p>0.05).Conclusions: The gastric banding in intro reduces food intake and weight of obese rats, andimproves insulin resistance. The GLP-1increased after the procedure of gastric banding in vitro.
