Aim:In order to provide the theory to local gastric cancer primary prevention, this paper detectthe soil trace elements content in high and low gastric cancer incidence areas in thenorthern Shanxi province and study the relationship between trace element and gastricmortality.Method:Sample countries are high gastric cancer incidence area Jia Country and relatively lowgastric cancer incidence area Luochuan Country in the northern Shanxi province. Onesample was randomly chosen in each town in these two counties and was usedinductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry to measure the contents of copper, zinc, chromium and nickel element Two samples were randomly chosen in each town inthese two counties to measure its selenium content with atomic fluorescencespectrometry. Variations of soil trace elements were analysized statistically in high andlow gastric cancer incidence area.Result:1. The soil trace elements of selenium, zinc, nickel, copper content in Jia county arelower than Luochuan county, T=3.676~10.042, p=0.000~0.001,where thedifference was statistically significant, P<0.01.2. The ratio of Cu/Zn in Luochuan was higher than in Jia county, where the differencewas statistically significant, P<0.01. Conclusion:3. Contents of Se, Zn, Cu, Cr and Ni in Luochuan and Jia County are lower thanaverage value in China with the former being higher than the latter.4. Se content in Jia County is0.1122mg/kg which is lower than the normal value of0.125mg/kg. The mortality of stomach cancer in Jia County is higher than inLuochuan and experiences an increasing trend, which may caused by the lack of Se.5. The low Cu content in Jia County may have a relationship to high incidence ofstomach cancer. The ratio of Cu/Zn in Luochuan is higher than in Jia, and thisdifference has statistical significance. The result of Cu/Zn is different from otherresearches, and this may cause by the lack of Cu in soil in Jia County.
