Buffalo grass (Buchloe dactyloides) origin central temperate and subtropical semi-aridregions of North America, as the grassy Chloris buffalo grass is a perennial grass subfamilies.Ithas beautiful leaf color, soft texture and tidy, with a strong drought resistance, trampling, heatand resistance to pests and diseases and is the ideal water-saving low-maintenance turf grasses. It can adapt dry environment of the North China, is an ideal material for garden landscaping innorthern China. With the dramatic increase in the amount of Buffalo grass, ornamental effecton its shortcomings has become increasingly prominent, such as short green period, poor shadetolerance. Based on this, the paper systematically studied the laws of North America bisongrass’s ploidy\original habitat conditions and phenotypic traits. It provides direction forelected superior Buffalo grass’s Sire, can establish theoretical basis for target breedingtechniques, so as to ultimately overcome the lack of application of bison grass, concrete resultsare as follows.(1)In this experiment, known diploid material ’cowboy’ is as standard to study the ploidysituation of North American Different geographical provenance’600parts Bison grass,selected10parts different times of Bison grass material, using chromosome compressionmethod to validation, it is fully consistent with the flow cytometry’s results:70-3A and ’density’are diploid;3-22,15-4and69-6A are tetraploid;60-2and71-2A are pentaploid;58-3A,63-6Aand72-2Bare hexaploid.(2)The DNA contents of Buffalo grass tested are as follows:’DNA contents of70-3A and’density are390MB; DNA contents of3-22,15-4and69-6A are780MB; DNA contents of60-2and71-2A are975MB; DNA contents of58-3A,63-6A and72-2B are1170MB.(3)The correlation analysis results of ploidy\Phenotypic characteristics and situ conditionsshow that:Native to high altitude buffalograss has smaller density and a few leaves, it’sorthostatic is strong;Native to North America grasslands in the western area of partial buffalograss’ height is higher; In the aspect of turf quality and view and admire agender, buffalograss cluster type in the original habitat are more scattered well. The higher timebuffalograss’s leaves are rough, has small density, and it’s appreciation.is bad.The higherbuffalograss’s time is, the higher the longitude of original habitat, namely the prairie in thewestern region, buffalograss are scattered distribution andPoor cluster; Buffalograss’s time hadno obvious correlation rule with illumination, soil, water, and (ELAT) with equivalent latitudeand altitude (ALT) no significant correlation. This study provide a theoretical basis for Bison grass target breeding techniques, it alsoprovide an experimental basis for the further increase in viewing bison grass gardenapplications.
