Multi-function evaluation of forest is an important content in multi-function management researches of forests, as well as a hot issue in recent multi-function management researches of forests at home and abroad. Under the guidance of multi-function evaluation of forests, the multi-function management of forests can meet the diverse functional demands for forest by the society, thereby promoting the sustainable development of forests. GIS technology has been widely used in the field of forest management, but its application in multi-function evaluation researches of forests is still rare. Therefore, how to combine GIS technology with multi-function evaluation of forests has been an urgent problem in the field of forest multi-function management researches.Jiangle National Forest Farm in Sanming City, Fujian Province is taken as the research object in the paper. According to the social demands and characteristics of forest resources, multi functions of the study area are first determined as the water conservation, soil and water conservation and timber production. Second, a GIS-based multi-function evaluation index system of Jiangle National Forest Farm is established to evaluate three functions mentioned above. Finally, a spatial database model for multi-function management of forests is established based on the constructed WebGIS-based multi-function evaluation system of Jiangle National Forest Farm, by adopting Goodatabase spatial database model and through the combination with spatial data engine ArcSDE technology. And a multi-function evaluation system of Jiangle National Forest Farm is constructed by using B/S architectural pattern and ArcGIS Server components in C#4.0and ArcGIS10.0.The research results shows: the area of water conservation functional zone in the study area is3594.6hm2, accounting for50.78%of the forest farm management area; the area of soil and water conservation is1424.5hm2, accounting for20.13%; the area of timber production functional zone is1617.4hm2, accounting for22.85%. The evaluation result is in accordance with the business objective of the forest farm, as well as such characteristics as planar distribution of water conservation functional zone and timber production functional zone and dotted distribution of soil and water conservation functional zone. The constructed system has realized many functions, including multi-function evaluation of forests, generation of thematic map, inquiry of forest resources information, map operation, statistical statement and data management.Compared with the conventional method, the multi-function evaluation research of forests by using GIS and WebGIS technology, On the one hand, the superiority of spatial analysis and data processing function can bring new thoughts and ideas to evaluation of forests, make a faster and more accurate evaluation. On the other hand, this evaluation system is constructed by WebGIS, data real-time sharing and dynamic management is achived. This system provides decision-makers with an effective assistant decision-making management tool, and a technical support for realizing the sustainable management of forest resources. |
