DUS testing guideline is the foundation of DUS test for new plant varieties, as well as the important content for essential examination of application varieties done by approving authority and the important basis to decide weather grant variety right, which provide scientific basis for the solution of infringement disputes. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to design a DUS testing guideline for new varieties of genus Anthurium and Guzmania. Results are as follow:1. On the basis of consulting document, related theories of plant variety protection and development trend were studied. The importance of DUS testing guideline for new varieties of genus Anthurium and Guzmania had been indicated.2. Through the growth investigation of varieties of Anthurium and Guzmania, the morphological and testing characteristics were analysed.3. Based On the general directives of UPOV and DUS Testing guideline of other vareities, the compilation method of DUS testing guideline for new varieties of Anthurium and Guzmania was determined.4. Nine qualitative characteristics,8pseudo-qualitative characteristics and23quantitative characteristics were measured among27major varieties of Anthurium. The research about distincness, uniformity and stability (DUS) of genus Anthurium were showed as follow:consistency of qualitative characteristics and pseudo-qualitative characteristics was obvious, but that of quantitative characteristics was influenced by environmental impacts. At last40characteristics were concluded to be useful for DUS testing of genus Anthurium.5. Thirteen qualitative characteristics, one pseudo-qualitative characteristic and19quantitative characteristics were measured among20major varieties of the genus Guzmania. The researches including variation coefficient, t-test and hierarchical clustering method about distincness, uniformity and stability (DUS) of genus Guzmania showed that consistency of qualitative characteristics and pseudo-qualitative characteristics was obvious, but that of quantitative characteristics was influenced by the environmental impacts. At last33characteristics were suggested to be useful for DUS testing of genus Guzmania.
