Identification Of Erect Panicle Loci From Oryza Meridionalis And Oryza Barthii

Erect panicle genes are playing important role to improve plant/panicle architecture in rice breeding programs in north China. Genetic diversity in wild rice species is more abundant than that in cultivated rice. Identifying erect panicle genes from wild rice species will be beneficial to rice breeding programs and enhance genetic diversity of cultivated rice.Three introgression lines (ILs) from Oryza meridionalis, two ILs from Oryza barthii were used to constructed BC4F2populations to conduct genetic analysis and QTL mapping. Here, we mapped two erect panicle loci qEP4.1and qEP4.2from O. barthii, that the phenotypic variation explained was96%,62%. Eight erect panicle loci qEP1.l, qEP4.3, qEP4.4, qEP8.1, qEP9, qEP1.2, qEP7and qEP8.2from O. meridionalis, that the phenotypic variation explained was55%,14%,27%,25%,20%,6%,10%, and19%.According to information from mapping result and literatues, it was possible that qEP4.1and qEP4.1were allelic to ER1(t), qEP7was allelic to DEP3, and qEP9was allelic to DEP1. Otherwise, qEP1.1, qEP1.2, qEP4.3, qEP4.4, qEP8.1and qEP8.2were novel loci responsible for erect panicle.Compared to recurrent parents, the near isogenic lines (NILs) of these loci changed greatly in morphologic and agronomic traits.-NIL-qep4.4、NIL-qep9and NIL-qep1.1showed short and dense panicle,NIL-qep4.1, NIL-qep4.2demonstrated short plant height.Through inheritance and mapping research for above erect panicle loci, genetic law for erect panicle loci was understood further, which, lay the foundation for further research and utilization. Meanwhile, this study provided theoretical basis and new gene resource for rice molecular breeding.
