Rice is an important crop, which is the model plant of the Gramineae . After the completion of rice genome sequencing, studying the function of gene in rice is becoming facilitate. Using rice mutant to research gene function is playing an important role on the discovery and identification of rice genes. In this study, indica rice erect panicle gene was finely mapped,as well as the candidate gene was analyzed. the main results were as follows:1 Based on the erect panicle gene mapped on the long arm of rice chromosome 7, there are 2 SSR markers RM505 and RM429,which was linkage with erect panicle gene. This study, new primers were designed, 2 genetic markers EP03 and EP09 tight linkage with erect panicle gene were obtained , and their genetic distance to erect pancile gene was both 0.15 cM, and a co-segregating marker EP15 was identified.2 According to the information on genomic sequence provided by the rice genome database website http://www.gramene.org/ Multi/blastview/ of rice chromosome 7, the location of EP03 and EP09 markers in rice chromosome 7 were: (+) 25377599 ~ 25377616, (-) 25,377,683 ~ 25,377,700 and (+) 25416005 ~ 25416023, (-) 25416146 ~ 25416164, the physical distance between EP03 and EP09 markers was about 38.41kb.3 According to the location of EP03 and EP09 markers, the interval of EP03 and EP09 of rice chromosome 7 was 25,377,599 ~ 25,416,164. In the rice genome database website http://rice.plantbiology.msu.edu/cgi-bin/gbrowse/rice/?ref=Chr7 could get five candidate genes.Their numbers were LOC_Os07g42410, LOC_Os07g42420, LOC_Os07g42430, LOC_Os07g42440, and LOC_Os07g42450, and got their detail information.4 According to the bio-information of the candidate gene provided by rice database website ,and combining the co-segregating marker EP15, the LOC_Os07g42410 was predicted the target gene.
