Zelkova sinica Schneid, belonging to Ulmaceae Zelkova, is endemic species in China, and rare native tree species of Shanxi. It’s important to study the artificial breeding of Zelkova sinica Schneid and cultivate its seedlings, which is significant in economy and ecology for enriching greening tree species of Shanxi afforestation, protecting and developing the rare species. Zelkova sinica Schneid seed breeding and vegetative propagation techniques are studied in this paper. The results are as following:1. Zelkova sinica Schneid seeds breeding and seeding growth(1) We take some basic research for Zelkova sinica Schneid fructification and seed characteristics. The results show that low seed setting rate and sand stratification will increase bud ratio and uniformity.(2) After stubble treatment, the seeding is the most suitable for Zelkova sinica Schneid growing.2.Zelkova sinica Schneid cutting propagation technology(1) During Zelkova sinica Schneid rooting period in Spring, the best treatment method is to use ABT1rooting powder+500ml/L concentration+mixed matrix of perlite and coarse sand with1:1ratio, reaching65%survival rate. Fall hard cuttage and spring soft cottage survival rate is less than5%, the tests were almost failed.(2) When cutting thickness is more than0.9cm, the survival rate is58.16%, while cutting thickness is less than0.49cm, the survival rate will down to29.15%. Within certain range, thicker cuttage will improve the survival rate greatly.(3) Cutting seedling transplantation should be done in spring, transplant survival rate is88%; Summer is not suitable for cutting seeding transplantation, the survival rate is only6%.3. Zelkova sinica Schneid grafting propagation technology(1) For the grafting between Zelkova sinica Schneid and ulmus pumila branch, the survival rate is only37.2%, bud grafting is almost failed.(2) Grafting thickness≥0.6cm, survival rate=52%; Grafting thickness<0.4cm, survival rate=14%。Within certain thickness range, Zelkova sinica Schneid grafting survival rate can be promoted.
