In this study, a wild shepherd’s purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) Medic,2n=32) in Wuhan was used as male parent to cross with an elite cultivar Zhongyou821with high level of glucosinolate and erucic acid (Brassica napus L.,2n=38). The F1hybrids were pollinated by ZY821twice and the progenies were selfed for five generations. The seed quality of these high-generations were detected by NIRS through each progeny. The components contained total glucosinolate, erucic acid, oil content, protein content, oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid and stearic acid content. The data for these years were analyzed by variance analysis, correlation analysis, principal component analysis and path analysis; we also compared which one is better for research between linear regression analysis and path analysis. The results were as follows:1) We draw secondary distribution maps for all components in each year, the remaining components are biased in favor of the normal mode;2) For each of the respective components, component analysis of variance showed that the individual components in different years were significantly different, and the differences between the components are also achieved a significant level;3) We also take correlation analysis of the various components, the relationship among components is complex and changeable by years.4) The principal component analysis can help reduction of the sum of components but still harboring enough information, in2010, three main components can be extracted compared to only two principal components in2011, the2012data can also be divided into three main components;5) According to complex relationships among components, path analysis is used to announce the links by calculating out equal expressions. Compared to simple linear regression, path analysis results is closer to the true picture of the original data. The introduction of these methods and the results can be a guiding role to carry out works on breeding, in view of the principal component of each year and the results of path analysis, we recommend that breeders individually screened materials by the annual results.
