Imaging radiometer is the key payload of the first generation eostationary meteorological satellite in our country. Its main function includes acquisition high quality nephogram, detecting vector of wind, cloud and vapor. The imaging radiometer may be very helpful in many fields including the analysis of short period weather, the numerical weather forecast and variation of the earth ecological environment. The imaging radiometer is usually mounted outside of the satellite, that is to say, it is directly exposed in outer space, which results in large variation of the heat flux on it. The temperature gradient and the rate of the temperature in the optical components have a great effect on the environment of the optical components, without appropriate and effective thermal control it will degrade the quality of imaging and image rectification. Hence, the thermal control technique must be taken in order to control the heat distortion of the optical system, moreover, it may also assist the satellite to detect the image object. The thermal control technique of imaging radiometer was studied in this thesis, and more attention was focused on the thermal control design and the thermal simulation. The final design about the thermal control for imaging radiometer was accomplished by thermal simulation. In this paper, we firstly comprehensively investigated on the thermal control theory, heat transfer performance and space environment of the existing spacecraft’s thermal control equipment and the common thermal control product, then analyzed requirement of the optical payload from thermal control, accordingly, the tentative project of thermal control for imaging radiometer was achieved based on the comparison between the domestic and foreign design of the same optical payload. For check and evaluate the thermal performance of the design, some simulation and analysis was done with some commercial software for spacecraft, SINDA/G and NEVAD, what include the establishment of the physical meshing model for imaging radiometer and the analysis of heat flux and temperature field out of the trajectory. In addition, some key factors and their effects about the shutter, heat pipe and apparatus material on the temperature had been discussed, related ideas and analyses are helpful to optimize the final design of the thermal control. Through work in the thesis, a design of the thermal control for imaging radiometer had been achieved, and some analysis about it had been done with simulation method, moreover, some key factors for thermal control on the instrument had been taken into consideration as well.
