The Research On Urban Color Control In The Process Of Protection And Development In The Old Town Of Beijing

This thesis is a research about the control method of historical urban color. As the oldurban area of Beijing for example, through large data of color research and related thetheories about space of urban and color, I want to sum up the control methods of a historicalurban color and give examples about corlor control scheme of Beijing old urban with theresearch methods of macro and micro.After the1980s, the concept of Integrated Conservation‘of the historic areas has beenrecognized by the international preservation orginizations. At the same time, Beijinggovernment set up programmes of the famous historic city and proposed to integrallyconserve the historical pattern of Beijing old urban areas. However, the pace of urban renewaldid not stop in the past decade, hosterical skin of old town has been replaced by the pattern ofmodern urban irreversibly, so the intergrated conversation is hard to achieve. Color is one ofthe elements that can intuitively reflect cultural characteristics, historic scene of old town,research it is actually another way to find the methods of conserving the city‘s history onvisual, and strive to create a Historic Urban Landscape‘of unified and varied with regionalcharacteristic.In this thesis, I mainly use the methods of Literature Research, Theoretical Research,Field Research, Color Sample Analysis by Computer, Program Design, Summarize and so on.Through the research on instances of color design at home and aboard and a lot of relatedtheories of urban spatial structure, color geography and color phenomenology, I got aconclusion is that if we want to built a rich and orderly color landscape it is very important tonotice the following two points: one is that we need the sapces which attune to human activity,the other is that the effects of the color phenomenon of simultaneous contrast and successivecontrast. In the process of field trips, I try to use visual contrast color method on the basis ofLenclos‘methodology. First, classifying and generalizing the protection sapces of Beijing oldtown; Second, collecting color data of typical collection points; finally, analysing andintegrating scientific data through the information management system of urban andarchitectural color. On the step of proposed control scheme, giving a suggested chromatogramof Beijing Old town color from three different levels(macro, mesco and micro) in accordancewith the principles of hierarchical classification, and offering reasonable proposals formanagement of urban color.
