Since ancient times, humans choose to live in the waterfront area. Urban waterfront green area as a kind of natural resources is of vital importance for a city and it is valued much more in the urban development than before. It helps to improve the quality of the environment and the landscape of the site which makes sense. The air can be purified1, water saved, contaminated water refined and the microclimate can be improved and so on. The waterfront green area is seen as the lung of the earth and the important part of the urban ecological corridor. Meanwhile, the urban waterfront green area is situated in the area which located between the land and the water. Waterfront landscape holds a large amount of information which is the important zone full of the unique urban landscape resources. The ecological plan of the urban waterfront green space focuses much on water which is the vital element of the area. The structure of the hydrological space plays an important role in constructing the ecological frame of the urban waterfront green space. Nowadays, it is essential to prospect and study the urban waterfront system and even that outside the city. So a large amount of information should be managed, distilled and analyzed efficiently. Now, for the traditional planning work, it is a common custom to analyze the information with the experience and sensibility and it cannot be denied that the experience and sensibility can help to get a general view of the site within a short time. On the opposite, it is unlikely to tackle with a large area in the urban waterfront green space with a special configuration and a great amount of information and it can be hard to analyze the site efficiently and rationally within a short time. This thesis focuses on the water which is the main element and studies a lot on the technologies of the hydrological analysis system. Experiments are taken to guide the design work via means of the hydrological analysis which are efficient and quantitative. By summarizing the methods and technologies of hydrological analysis, this thesis tries to combine it with the ecological plan work on the urban waterfront green space and attempts to obtain a series of methods for the ecological plan of the urban waterfront green space based on the analysis of the hydrology which are efficient and quantitative.
