Throttler is a key component for constant oil supply pressure and hydrostatic bearing’s proper operation, which plays a very important role in controlling the hydraulic system. The conventional throttle cannot reach the job requirements for its passive control which leads to limitations in the hydraulic control system. Therefore, three new throttlers were designed for its existing shortcomings:the new gap servo throttler, the new film servo throttler and the new slide valve servo throttler all based on giant-magnetostrictive. This paper researches on these three new throttlers respectively.Design a new film servo throttler based on giant-magnetostrictive, and introduce its structure and working principle. Through the Ritz method and minimum potential energy method to solve deformation formula; through the Reynolds equation and flow balance equation to get the flow formula of new film throttler. Make a study on the relationship between thrust and deformation, as well as the influences of throttler length and throttler width to the throttle’s characteristics.Conduct an experimental study on giant magnetostrictive actuator’s Static characteristic to get the actuator best prestress and the relationship of DC coil bias current and the output displacement under this prestress. Also conduct an experimental study on actuator’s dynamic characteristics, which compares the actuator’s output displacements under different drive currents’amplitude and frequency.Design a new slide valve servo throttler and choose a reasonable spring shape (straight-arc combined spring) according to the structure of throttler. Use the abaqus modules respectively to simulate the stresses when the slide valve translation a displacement and the spring under different lengths, different radius, different wire diameters. Also obtain the slide valve’s minimum thrusts and pressure differentials of two opposite oil chambers under different displacements. Choose the optimal spring dimensions (including line length, radius size and wire diameter), according to the analysis of structure and size of the throttle. Derive the formula of the new slide valve servo throttler, and calculate the characteristics of the new throttle in stimulation.
