Research On Rebuilding The Cultural Space Of Historical City

China is a large country, and five thousand years of Chinese civilization has created many unique historical cities. If we only started from the material plane to research the construction of historical cities, it would make a result of that these ancient cities look identical and lack of individuality. The culture is soul and link of the historical city, which supports the advancement and development of the city. Every city has special natural and geographical environment, culture tradition and folk customs, and after a long period of Historical development and space evolution these cities have formed unique cultural characteristics, which manifest the personality and charm of the city. For the historical city which has rich and precious cultural heritage, Culture is the best carrier to tell the city historic contents of all the historical humanity images, and as the root and soul of the city, it symbolizes the city character and makes an important part of city comprehensive competitiveness. Therefore culture is playing a vital role in the process of the historical city renaissance and development, and has a profound and far-reaching influence.Although the historical city has been going through years of vicissitudes, it has profound cultural accumulation, and its tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage including local style and features, folk customs and traditions, are complete and full of local characteristics. All of those above are typical cultural spaces. In order to protect and inherit the cultural heritage of historical cities, this thesis raised the topic of exploring the road to revive the historical city from the angle of rebuilding the cultural space, expecting to inherit the city cultural characteristics and rejuvenate the city space through this new design thinking and starting point. This thesis respectively did research into the historical city, the cultural space, Qi culture and ancient Linzi, and based on these theoretical researches several important subjects in rebuilding the cultural space of historical city were brought in:the extracting of city cultural trait, the protect and inheritance of cultural heritage and the living revitalization of the cultural space of historical city.Based on the organizing and summarize of the existing theory and research achievements, this thesis focused on interpreting the cultural space of historical city and discussing the design principles and methods of rebuilding the cultural space. Taking "the ancient city of Qi" in Linzi for example, the author extracted the cultural trait of Qi ancient city through investigating Linzi city and studying the city historical materials, and then by means of rebuilding cultural spaces tried to achieve the aim of the living show and effective inheritance of Qi culture in hope of seeking road to the comprehensive revitalization of ancient Linzi.To rebuild the cultural space of "the ancient city of Qi", the project took the ancient city as the carrier and Qi culture as the theme, and spread the specific plan and design by extracting and analyzing the contents and types of Qi culture separately. The project adopted the living technique and life-like scenes to show the contents of Qi culture, so as to reinforce the city cultural characteristics and increase the city charm and attraction, motivating the city for better development.The research of this thesis aimed to protect and inherit the cultural heritage of historical cities, and it was an systematic attempt for the city revitalizing, with the help of such efforts, expecting to achieve the goal of changing the present situation that the developing of historical cities has been getting similar.
