More and more project owners and construction contractors pay more attention to construction contracts management for construction projects, especially change management. Owners want to utilize contract management to control project cost, decrease the risk of project execution, and finally complete the project within the project budget and on schedule. Simultaneously construction quality and safety should be assured. Construction contractors want to gain more profit with contract change management.This paper analyzed the whole process of INVISTA Airbag Fiber Plant Extension Project, and investigated how to effectively manage construction contracts from the professional standpoint of contract administration, and also decoded the reason of different site changes during the contract execution process. Meanwhile the vital effect of change management on cost control and effect on schedule is disclosed.We established sound contract strategy, developed suitable tender documents and set reasonable bid assessment criteria. Following strict tendering procedure we selected experienced construction contractors who have deep understanding on our project, signed watertight contract terms, and execute contract change procedure strictly during the contract execution process, and severely controlled change cost. Finally we met the goal of cost control settled for this project. At the same time we achieved "zero" claims from construction contractors, and maintained cooperation relationship between owner and construction contractors.
