The Application Of The Characteristic Design Of Edge Space In The Open Park

The research on edge space starts from the ecological area and gradually extends to project and architecture. Edge space exists in any visible spaces and any two or more spaces. Edge space, with its complication has, has the richest forms and provides the most abundant space for human activities. It is not merely transitional area, but also the agitation of all kinds of activities. Thus it becomes the focus of designing. Thanks for the study on human behavior psychology in recent years, people begin to realize the important role the edge space plays in design. But it is far from enough.Open park, especially the comprehensive city open park, is the inevitable trend of the development of the city park and green space system. The research object of this thesis,the application of the featured design of edge space in open park, emerges with the very trend of the development of the city open park. The theory study and design practice have not reached this area before now. Most people’s understanding of the open park is confined to its pay-free. This notion only shows the openness of the marketing management. But its openness in programming and distribution is far more important. Only with the achievement of this can park join well with the city and the whole green space system. The application of the open park is badly limited due to the lack of awareness. And to deal with the edge space also faces with many problems.This thesis, with the object of edge space in the open park, aims to find a way to make open park mingle well with city life and surrounding land. And to show the multiple values of the park. So it will become the open space which mix tight with the city culture, citizen entertainment and the city green system. The thesis takes some comprehensive city park as the priority objects, from its plight in opening process to conclude the features of the edge space in the open park and the factors which affects its development. Through concluding and classifying these elements, some guide principle for different kinds od edge space will be obtained.This thesis contains five chapters as follow:The first chapter is the introduction which mainly talks about the background, category, purpose and the significance of this research. It also sets up the methods and measures.The second chapter is mainly about the current situation of study in this theory. It gives the brief introduction of the edge space study from the current situation abroad and home in the ecology area, city design area, architecture area. It provides the research and analysis of the present park edge space.The third chapter concludes the primary elements, space features, design principle and the reference theory of the park edge space based on the actual examples.The fourth chapter taking the actual the Binshui Park in Liuyang city as an example analyzes the features of different edge space design from the angles of function area, edge form, transportation, green landscape, culture features, sight control, multiple use and safety. According to different types of edge space, the design for all the above angles are totally different. So identify the edge space type is the key procedure in the analysis before the design.The fifth chapter is the conclusion reviewing this whole research and expecting its development.
