Rudder is an actuator of flight control system. It can make the missile modify the ballistictrajectory according to the control instruction till hits the target. Therefore, the performance ofrudder decides the dynamic quality in the process of flight. Traditional test methods can onlyexecute at the prescribed places for some fixed type rudder, even universal test system is notconvenient to move. With the update of rudders, it will cause great waste of equipment tomake a new test system. So, it is imperative to develop an universal test system for all kindsof rudder.This paper researches portable universal test system for various types of rudder. After theanalysis of the rudder’s testing task, we summarized the functionality and interface that thetest system requires and we design the overall structure of portable rudder universal testsystem with maturity, expandability, advancement. The test control box is small volume, lightweight, compact-sized and easy to carry. The aspect of hardware introduces the selection ofpower and completed the circuit design of power source control, command control, digitalcommunication, data acquisition and power detection. These designs are full of considerationwith electromagnetic compatibility and the anti-interference measures. We useLabWindows/CVI to complete test code and interactive interface of system test, filemanagement, test system maintenance, data management. We build measured products,instrumentation and signal modeling and stored in the "prescribed format file" that is fieldprogrammable to achieve the connection between the modules have no relationship. It decidesthe test configuration and testing process that can compile as test code in test system tocomplete the test of rudder. In addition, it also introduces method of multithread in theprocess of testing. The algorithm of performance parameters was analyzed. Transfercoefficient and the maximum angular velocity are calculated by several methods, we selectthe least square method and linear fitting suitable algorithm respectively for them.Portable rudder universal test system can be applied to most of rudder and the measuredparameters can achieve technical indicators. It achieves good result and is reliable.
