| With the continuous improvement of the scale of high-grade highways construction inChina, the requirements of road building materials become more and more strict. So, how toimprove asphalt pavement performance and extend the road service life, which havebecame the researcher’s focus in the field of materials. In China, with the increase of thenumber of car ownership, the amount of waste tires is a trend of accelerated growth. Crumbrubber is used as a modified asphalt,which can achieve reuse of waste materials andenvironmental protection, so that it will bring good economic and social value.However, the existing research shows that adding rubber particles to asphalt mixturemake the mixing and compaction temperatures significantly improved as well as theemissions of harmful gases increased, and easily lead to asphalt aging. How to reducerubber modified asphalt mixture’s mixing and compaction temperatures so as to enhancetheir applicability and economy have important significance.Therefore, based on the domestic and international’s research, the following tasks arecarried out:(1) The basic properties of the base asphalt from rubber-modified asphalt mixtuer aretested, the screening results of the rubber particles are determined, and the effectiveconstituents of the adopted warm agent are explained.(2) Detailed analysis the effect of the shear temperature, shear time, shear rate,swelling time, the content of rubber particles and other factors to the rubber modifiedasphalt’s penetration, softening point, ductility and other indicators, and then determine theoptimum preparation process. Last,the rubber-modified asphalt technology evaluationsystem used in this article is developed.(3) Selection AC-16C aggregate gradation, through laboratory tests to determine theoptimal asphalt content of rubber modified asphalt mixture. Rutting test results show that adding rubber particles significantly improves the mixture’s high temperature stability, thelittle beam bending test results show that all indexs including flexural strength, failure strainand stiffness modulus of rubber modified asphalt mixture have improved, Marshall stabilitytest and freeze-thaw splitting test results show that the rubber modified asphalt mixture’swater stability is better than base asphalt.(4) The tests results of warm mix rubber asphalt and warm mix rubber asphalt mixtureshow that warm agent can enhance the rubber modified asphalt’s high-temperature stability,temperature sensitivity and high temperature viscosity, etc., but it have harmful impact onlow temperature cracking resistance of asphalt. Road Performance test results show that theincorporation of warm agents can significantly improve the temperature stability of rubbermodified asphalt mixture, however,which have adverse effect on low temperature crackingresistance,as well as, less impact on water stability. |
