This paper proposed a design solution of floating pier based on floating body hydrostatics, wave theory and viscoelastic mechanism model of asphalt material, analyzed the hydrostatics, floatation, stability of floating pier, and carried out the calculation of floating pier mechanic response characteristics under different load combinations using ANSYS software.This research is a key technology in large floating pier design, which took into account offshore environmental loads, deck cargo loads and asphalt deck loads, and considered the floating structure and asphalt pavement deck as a integrity, investigated the mechanic response characteristics and influence of asphalt material on the floating structure.The main contributions are described as follows:1. The paper investigated the calculation method of hydrostatics performance, free floatation and stability of floating pier, used linear wave as environmental fluid load with the consideration of hogging and sagging, adopted Maxwell model as asphalt deck mechanical model based on a comprehension of basic characteristics of viscoelastic material, and studied the application methods of finite element modeling, unit selecting, meshing, loading and constraining of floating structure and asphalt deck in ANSYS software environment.2. The paper determined the main parameters of floating pier, put forward the design plan of general arrangement and basic structure, calculated the hydrostatic curve, analyzed the floating characteristics, checked the GM value under different load cases according to CCS rules, carried out the finite element modeling of steel floating structure and asphalt deck pavement structure, and calculated the structure weight and weight distribution curve, compartment load, deck surface load, still water load and wave force load, end restraint and equilibrium of force system.3. The paper analyzed the mechanical characteristics of floating pier, determined the load cases and comparison groups, investigated the transient response of different wave heights, deck thicknesses, deck cargo loads on load combination and long term mechanical response, summarized the response pattern of stress, deformation and movement of floating pier structure under different load combination.
