If our world is a working clock which is driven by kinds of gears, the urbanpublic facilities design should be one of these gears. In order to fulfill its societyvalue and functions and avoid being sifted out, urban public facilities designshould be improved continually to keep pace with the times and should beupgraded its own configuration. This paper emphasizes on how to improve the defects and insufficiencies inurban public facilities design. From the perspective of humanization, this paperanalyzes, summarizes and concludes the factors which are needed to be takeninto account in the design of urban public facilities. Meanwhile, on the basis ofergonomics research theories, this paper puts forward certain improvingsuggestions, with the study of national and international successful design worksof urban public facilities. This paper first states the overview of ergonomics and mainly studies therelated parts including environmental psychology, anthropometry, human’s spiritsystem and human’s perception. Then, it analyzes the special characteristics inhumanization design of urban public facilities. At last, according to the theoriesof the three subjects in ergonomics, it studies the influence factors existing inurban public facilities design. By studying the successful works, it analyzes howthese factors are used in mature humanization design of public facilitiesworldwide, in order to improve the standard of constructing our public facilities.Hopefully, this paper could improve the applicability, normalization andrationality of humanization design in urban public facilities by using ergonomicstheories, and could provide some theoretical guide in the practice of urban publicfacilities design in the future.
