The development of city is a process that urban issues continue to be discoveredand solved, and the solution to urban issues can not do without the protection andreconstruction of the city. Urban issues can be divided into over-urbanization andlagging urbanization. Beijing, as a typical representative of the Eastern culture, has adifferent connotation from the Western culture. Since Beijing, which was called Daduthen, was built as the capital of Yuan Dynasty, its pattern has been kept constructedand reformed by different dynasties, and now Beijing still retains a large number ofcultural relics and historic sites. With the development of the society, the phenomenonof acculturation has been impacting the traditional architectural style increasingly.In the chronological sequence of Beijing’s development, the essay analysis theurban development of Beijing. Using the idea of acculturation, the essay is based onthe theory and the description of the characteristics. Compared with the outstandingcases of the foreign urban microcirculation, the essay summarizes the principles andstrategies of the old city microcirculation transformation; and at the same time, testsand applies the concept of microcirculation with a specific design example. With theconclusion that outlooks the relationship between the old city and new generation ofenvironment, this essay hopes to provide some useful reference to protect the old cityin the current urgent situation.
