Because the trunk road’s traffic is the heavities in a city, and it give the city traffic most influence, the smooth flow of the trunk road’s play a big role of remitting the whole city’s traffic congestion.this paper take the trunk road as research object, make a brief introduction of the development of intelligent transportation at home and abroad, combined with some knowledge of traffic control system, put forward a advanced intelligent traffic controller base on fuzzy control algorithm, through the platform consist of the ARM microprocessor and real-time operating system VxWorks, to design a trunk road intelligent traffic controller, the reason that chose VxWorks as the stability of the operating system is that VxWorks has characteristics of high efficiency and the multitasking, and it can well adapt to traffic controller working environment, So it can effectively finish a variety of control function.
