The optical aiming device applied to portable air defense missile is a visual optical instrument, which is used to search and aim air target before launching missile and to provide lead accurately when launching missile. This optical aiming device, able to be used under strong and weak light, has characteristics such as easy ranging, quick aiming, and precisely providing lead, which has practical significance in the way of improving single soldier fighting efficiency.This article introduces the composition and working principle of optical aiming device in detail, presenting a design scheme which adopts twice-imaging telescopic optical system, emphasizing the type selection of the lens sets of optical system, stressing the calculation of original structure, and optimizing and tolerance analysis of the optical system by using optical design software "Zemax". In the article, the design of general structure of optical aiming device and the designs of lens barrel and mechanical interface are made by applying mechanical design software "Auto CAD", and the reasonableness of the mechanical design drawing is verified through dimension chain calculation. At last, the optical performance check and the environmental test for the optical aiming device are carried out, and the results are:field of view:35°, magnification ratio:2.2×, resolution:36.5", diopter:-0.7; and all of the five environmental tests of high temperature, low temperature, drip-proof, damp-humidity and anti-shock meet the test requirement. The above results indicate that the design of the optical aiming device meets the practical requirement of portable air defense missile.
