The worm drive is one of the important gear types, have the advantages of high trans-mission ratio and compact structure, widely used in metallurgy, mining, lifting and transporta-tion, defense and other industries. The damage of traditional worm is mainly due to the bad lubrication condition leading to the wheel abrading. This paper put the traditional ZA worm drive as the research object. Through the whole structure design of the web position and de-formation gear, the worm will form the fluid dynamic pressure lubrication, so as to improve wear worm serious condition. The works mainly completed in this paper are as follows:1. This paper did some systematic arrangement for tooth surface equation model of ZA worm wheel. And in the original mathematical model, gear mathematical expressions are also deduced according to the modeling of worm gear tooth surface. This can be as the theory ba-sis of establishing ZA worm transmission model.2. In this paper, the author built a Pro/E entity model of ZA worm wheel and worm through researching the ZA worm gear and worm gear surface equation. Aiming at the oil film cannot be formed easily in the original worm drive, the author takes steps of removing the webs of worm gear location appropriately, then build the three-dimensional model. This will prepare for static analysis and fluid analysis.3. The author did a detailed description about preparation under the environment of Workbench, and analyzed the contact stress and deformation of ZA worm transmission in the same mesh position and on the same loads. Then the author did the same static analysis to the improved worm wheel. After comparing the results of all cases, the author analyzed the worm gear structure design would be whether it helps to form the hydrodynamic pressure of the oil film or not.4. According to the fluid dynamic pressure theory combined with the actual worm trans-mission, the author considered it’s concerned between fluid force and the form of worm wheel in course of transmission. Then the author built an appropriate simplified oil film model. This provided a kind of more effective simulation method for the worm hydrodynamic pressure lubrication simulation by using computer simulation of FLUENT.
