Hermetic motor with water-cooling system applied in furnace is mainly usedfor agitating and circulating the gas in various types of controlled atmosphereheat-treatment furnace. The motor is always operating at high temperature forlong-term. In the meanwhile, the shape of stator is fixed because of the limitationof installed space, which is hardly getting the demand for heat radiation even if adual-water-cooling system is employed. This could cause the motor temperatureoverheated. The mechanical, electrical and physical properties of motor could notbe stable when the motor temperature is high. This not only could lead thedecreasing of motor efficiency, but also lead local overheating. This couldinfluence reliability of the motor long-term operation.This paper takes a2.2kW hermetic motor with water-cooling system as anexample, combining with practical application environment. It is based on thebasic principle of water-cooling system design which could achieve anoptimizing hermetic motor water-cooling system. The coupling analyses arefinished both on fluid field and temperature field.Firstly, relevant knowledge about hermetic motor with water-cooling systemYRM1-215M1-4is introduced. The motor parameters and motor loss areobtained simultaneously by calculation principle of motor. Secondly, accordingto the design principle of cooling system structure characteristics and thedimension, two water-cooling systems in motor front cover and motor base arere-designed detailed. The new scheme adopts bending type flume with simplemanufacturing process and low cost. The fluid analysis and simulation on thisnew cooling scheme is accomplished by finite element software using finite-volume method. The fluid coupling field calculation on shafts and two water-cooling systems is completed at the same time. The optimization could be verified by simulation and calculation, whichcould determine that the new design cooling system has more operationefficiency and better radiation ability. This new optimized motor cooling-systemscheme could provide new method and new theory for designing higherefficiency and more power motor in the future.
