Switched reluctance motor which is simple in structure, strong and durable,low cost, flexible control, but also has strong fault tolerance, high temperaturetolerance, good speed control performance and many other advantages has beenwidely applied in the field of electric vehicles. The frequently switch alsobrought torque ripple which has been difficult to solve. So the modeling methodof switched reluctance motor and the torque ripple suppression technologybecame the key research object.This paper introduces firstly the present development situation of theswitched reluctance motor in the mathematical modeling, the torque ripplesuppression technology, the power converter structure and the controller at homeand abroad, It is discussed the basic composition and its characteristics ofswitched reluctance motor drive. Taking a3kW SRM,12/8as the research object.It simulated and calculated the2D finite element of switched reluctance motor byAnsoft Maxwell. It obtained that the magnetic field distribution, static flux-linkage characteristic, static inductance characteristic and static torque character-istic. The static torque of double-phase excited compared to the static torque ofone-phase excited. It proved that double-phase excited can reduce torque rippleunder advanced opening angle. Based on the test data of the flux-linkage, gettingflux-linkage function of three special positions by using the first flux-linkagemodeling scheme, the three special position of flux-linkage function combinedwith fourier flux-linkage modeling method is to design the model, the designedmodel can describe accurately flux-linkage characteristics of motor. The simula-tion proved that the modeling method is feasible. Through selecting the optimal open angle by fixed turn-off angle is to suppress the torque ripple. It simulatedby carrying on the different open angle, the simulation results proved that themethod is reasonable and effective. The experimental platform was builtaccording to the above model. The hardware of switched reluctance motor drivewas designed. Combining with the hardware wrote the software program, thesoftware structure designed reasonably and each module made concrete analysis.The comparison of the simulation waveform and the experimental waveformverified that the control strategy of suppressing the torque ripple is correct andreasonable. It proved the modeling method and the torque ripple suppressiontechnology of this paper is feasible.
