Study On Color Characteristics And Its Continuity Of Contemporary Historic Building Of Guangxi

China’s contemporary history, only for a few hundred years, has fused Chinese andWestern historical culture deeply. under the Western influence, in some coastalcities such as Harbin, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai and Guangzhou, there have been anumber of contemporary buildings. Under the influence of western culture, showingtheir own cultural landscape and cityscape. Because of its special geographicalposition, there’re some particular architectural and cultural heritages in Guangxi.However, with the impact of modern urban civilization, many excellent historicalcontext of local characteristics and cultural traditions disappeared, the boundaries ofhistorical area and non-historical area is not clear. Due to the weakening of theconcept of regional and urban context, many cities look alike more and more. As themost obvious factor in the visual effects, color is particularly important to thecontinuity of the historical environment.According to the study of the color science, regional theory, history citesconservation basis, Understanding a clear color concept of the historic environment,using the first-hand investigating materal of the two cities: Beihai and Guilin, thispaper provides a direct basis for the protection and restoration of historic buildings,and the reference of the surrounding environment colour design.After investigation of the color of contemporary architecture in Guangxi historicalcontext, it is obvious that there are special regional color characteristics ofcontemporary architecture in Guangxi. But because of the insufficient theories forprotection and restoration, the colors of the new buildings which around them are allin a mess. This paper summarizes color characteristics of contemporary historicbuilding in Guangxi, tries to guide to inherit and convert historic buildings undermodern conditions, and provide directional guidelines and recommendations to thecolor design of the new building in historical area in Guangxi. The purpose of thisstudy is to provide reference to the color repair basis of Guangxi historic building, aswell as to create a harmonious and orderly historical environment. The use of NewRegional color Construction System is to creat a science, well-established theory andmethod. The framework is divided into four parts: the evolution of the background ofthe historic environment, extraction and induction of the colors of each building, andthe modern architecture color control. The first three sections of the study are as the foudation, proposing to provide the basis for modern architecture’s color to create aatmosphere. The last part provide corresponding color continuity solutions of the oldbuilding for different types of historic environment, then raises countermeasures ofcolor design for new buildings from the architectural color, texture and hue angle.
