The Regional Characteristics Study On The Environmental Color Of Traditional Village In Xiangxi

As the typical ethnic minority inhabited area in Hunan Provinc e,Xiangxi(also known as western Hunan),Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is well-known by the magnitude and regional features of its traditional villages.Not only does the overall environmental color of village determine our visual impression on the whole villages,it also vividly reflects and maps the natural and historical cultural characteristics of where the villages located.Though proper planning and reservation has been made by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development of PRC a couple of traditional villages listed in the Chinese Traditional Village List,with the rapid development of social economy and urbanization trend,the one in Xingxi does not receive satisfying protection and the unity and concordance of environmental color are gradually broken due to the lack of architecture color reasonable planning.Under that condition,the article focus on the study of environmental color and regional characteristic in the traditional Xiangxi villages.Through field surveying and picturing,the author is able to establish a systematical chromatogram of Xiangxi typical traditional villages after collecting and arranging.The article is divided into five chapters.The first one comes to the introduction which states the study background,purpose,range as well as significance.The current situation of study,main methodology and logical framework are also included in the first part.When it comes to the second chapter,on the foundation of a detailed study to the relevant basic theories such as color science,color psychology,color geography,etc.,the quantitative and qualitative research of environmental color in traditional Xiangxi villages is conducted learning from the main color geography methods.As the key chapter of the article,the related color data are collected to summarize the current status of village environment color,through practical investigation on typical villages in distinct terrain areas in Xiangxi.In addition,the forth chapter analyses and summarizes the regional features of the environmental colors in Xiangxi traditional villages from natural and humanity environment perspectives.Last but not least,the strategies in terms of the protection and planning for the environmental color of traditional villages in Xiangxi are put forward in the fifth charpter.The study on the regional features of the traditional villages in Xiangxi is able to fill in the gaps in related research at the specific region.Moreover,it is expected to play an active role in the protection of the color landscape of traditional villages.Meanwhile,the study is likely to provide reference for the use of regional colors in the architectural creation process.
