Research On Modeling Method Of Jeep Outer Cover Based On Reverse Engineering

How to evaluation an automotive is good or bad, not only requires it has strictperformance, but also requires it has a popular modeling. The car modeling as thefirst impression represents in front of people, it should have beautiful appearance,rigorous structure and very comfort. So as to the car, it has complex surfacestructures and high quality requirements, and these determine the overall image andthe performance of the automotive car. These have important influence to theautomotive market.On the basis of analyzing traditional design flow and design flow based onreverse engineering of the automotive, combining the advantages of the reverseengineering, we create a jeep sheet metal model. And by HB3DS optical scanner weobtain the point cloud data of the jeep. Combined with its modeling features, studythe post processing and optimize of the jeep point cloud data. Study the surfacereconstruction based on the grating projecting NURBS, triangle division,quadrilateral division and NURBS reconstruction are studied in the paper. Combinewith CAD can realize the surface reconstruction of the jeep. Analysis the surfacesmoothing problem during the curve and the surface reconstruction process.Comparison of several curve and curve surface smoothing method, analysis thesurface smoothing algorithm, and at last by the proper surface smoothing algorithmmethod we realize the jeep’s surface reconstruction and smoothing.By doing reverse engineering test of the jeep sheet metal model, we get the jeepthree-dimensional model fast and high quality. And these theory and method playedan important role to the reverse engineering development.
