With the development of economy in China, electric energy has become the most important energy resource which is close with our daily life. As one of the cores, the transformer substation which plays the role of power transformation has been the important node of transmission and distribution in the power grid. The truss design of the substation construction mainly affects safe operation of the facility. So the design of truss for the new substation is one of the most important factors.The truss in the area of substation called substation truss which belonged to outdoor power distribution facility mostly reinforced with concrete iron and circular rod as the main force structural. Substation truss design and basic materials should be considered for engineering design. Affected by the natural environment and irresistible force and other factors, the rod body may be fractured or corroded inside. The technology of the hot dip galvanized for steel rod was proposed which extends the time of anti-corrosion. In addition, practicality of structure, convenience for manufacturing and processing and construction, good visual appearance should be considered.In this paper, for the example of the220kV substation in Dalian, the integrate design for substation truss is described. Firstly, the principle of substation truss design and material selection is referred, analyses the electrical load and selects the reinforced concrete and steel rod; Load analysis is firstly carried out for the design of truss, the impact of electrical parameters on the design of load is put forward by calculation of electric power and static force. Structure and basis calculation is carried out after the completion of analysis for load, and then complete the design of substation truss.In order to conduct the engineering design, the analysis of reliability is carried out in this paper, by forecast for damage of structure of substation truss, the analysis for the impact on the reliability affected by damage is obtained. Finally, the failure rate was achieved by the simulation calculation for the design.The current substation truss design is facing load increasing, complex technology arrangement, poor geological conditions and other aspects of problem. In this paper, combined with practical work experience and search of a large number of relevant literatures, design and other related problems for substation truss was studied deeply, which can conduct the structure design for substation.
