As the continuous development of city construction, Smart City is putting on the agendagradually. As an important supporting power of Smart City, ITS(intelligent transportationsystem) aims to provide support for the prevention and recovery of traffic congestion, topromote driving safety and to solve other transportation problems. Promoting thedevelopment of remote monitoring system, optimizing resource allocation and improving theoperational efficiency and quality of public bus service has become the core of ITS and animportant part of vehicle networking.Currently, the electronic devices of public bus is more and more diversified, such asvideo monitoring module, Bus stop Annunciator, GPS module, auto PC, etc. However, mostof these devices are working independently with no interaction between functions and noexchange of information. Without a comprehensive information platform, the result is that thebus monitoring system is information-lacked, single-function and poor-expansibility.Therefore, an intelligent multi-data stream bus monitoring system being establishedimmediately is of much importance.In this thesis, a remote monitoring system is designed based on embedded platform. It hascomprehensively utilized the technology of GPS(Global positioning system), geographicalinformation and3G(the third generation mobile communication technology). It has integratedBus stop announcer, CAN controller, satisfaction evaluator and other bus electronicequipment, which will collect, transmit and feedback real time data such as the location of bus,bus station information, running state parameters, satisfaction and bus scheduling information.Meanwhile, the remote monitoring center receives the data and generates the visual interface,thus realizing the function of monitoring the public bus as well as sending schedulingcommand to auto PC and remote update files.The system structure and function are firstly analyzed and designed in this thesis, then thechoice of main control chips, GPS module,3G module and the design of various functioninterface are introduced in detail. Based on the hardware platform of TCC8900, thecustomization and cutting of embedded system have been completed, the software development environment has been built. Besides, the designing and debugging of the serialcommunication, wireless network communication, play multimedia advertising, softwareinterface module has been implemented. Finally, the running and testing results of the systemon the bus show, the system is capable of monitoring the required information and the data isreliability and stability. The function of automatic station report, remote update lines, vehiclescheduling, multi-media advertising will effectively improve the efficiency, safety andversatility of the public bus.
