Wheel hub bearing is one of the important parts on the cars who’s property is directly related to cars’driving condition. Dynamic characteristics will affect the service life, vibration, noise and rotating accuracy of wheel bearing, and the most important factor which affect the dynamic characteristics of wheel hub bearing is the preload force. Thus the study on the relationship between wheel hub bearing preload and its dynamic characteristics is particularly important. The relationship has been studied in this paper, main work contents are as follows:(1) According to the geometric structure and the mechanical analysis of angular contact ball bearing, a dynamic model was built based on a double row angular contact ball bearing to provide theoretical basis for studying the influence of wheel hub bearing’s preload on stiffness and natural frequency.(2)The basic theory of contact problem and finite element analysis method were introduced. And use Hertz theory to solve the contact problem of wheel hub bearing. When analyzing the contact problem of wheel hub bearing in ANSYS Workbench, the setting of finite element model of wheel hub bearing was discussed, and the finite element dynamic analysis theory of wheel hub bearing was discussed, which laid a theoretical foundation for the effect of preloaded force on wheel hub bearing dynamic characteristics.(3)The wheel bearing dynamic characteristics test apparatus were built, and the experimental scheme was formulated. The relationship between wheel hub bearing preload and its natural frequency was analyzed after testing different preload of wheel hub bearing and comparing the frequency response from the tests.(4) Aiming at a certain type wheel hub bearing, a five degrees of freedom wheel hub bearing model was built and the effect of preloaded force on wheel hub bearing dynamic characteristics was analyzed. Finite element dynamic model of wheel hub bearing was built and the dynamic characteristics under the circumstance of different preload force were analyzed. the effect of preloaded force on wheel hub bearing dynamic characteristics. Lastly the results in five degrees of freedom dynamic model of wheel hub bearing, the finite element dynamic analysis method and test method for three different methods were compared and the conclusion was obtained.
