Public Commercial Space Children’s Game Environment Design Research

Currently, there are not many public commercial space that are equipped with children’s game environment. Merchants focus on the commercial modes that can bring customers and profits rather than children’s game environment when they make designs and plans of their zone distribution.With the development of economy, especially after the input of developed running principles from foreign countries, children’s game environment has sprung up either rebuilt or newly-built in domestic malls. The equipment in supermarkets and some department stores are generally small-sized or small-scaled for areas or economic reasons. However, the children’s game environment in malls are much better in size and scale. Besides the equipment for games, there are also comprehensive entertainment items in physical education, wisdom training, expedition, etc. But generally speaking, short comings of children’s game castles do exist, like no enough room, simple equipment, potential dangers and inefficient service program, etc.One of the most important factors for children’s happy growth is games, which is a natural way to learn and to sense during a child’s growth. This paper analyzes the disadvantages and shortcomings of the children’s game environment in public commercial space from children, parents and designers’different points of view and relative researches, discusses the relationship between games and children’s growth based on the study and analysis of children’s psychological, biological and behavior factors in all stages, and the general principle of designing children’s game environment from the style, structure, color, material, safety and environment.Form the perspective of commercial management, attracting as many customers as possible is key to gain more profits. High-quality design and equipment of children’s game environment can satisfy people’s needs in material and spiritual levels. In the mean time, variety and multi-functioned service can also improve the commercial values and livelihood of the malls so that more customers flood in.
