With the the vigorous development of economic and research means, the development ofthe inland river ships increases day by day. Beacon vessels as an important ship form of Heilongjiang River, carry out the maintenance and supervision ability work、ensure the ship safetyand other important tasks. However because of the Heilongjiang channel status such as shallowwater、small speed and so on, we urgently need high efficiency shallow ship form. Afterdecades of development the original beacon vessels have mainly formed two forms such as thetunnel tail and the double tail, which both have the characteristics of high efficiency and energysaving, but lack of the specific comparative analysis. Therefore this paper will use numericalsimulation method to compare the shallow performance of two types, thus we can prove whichstern type is more suitable for the beacon vessels.The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1) First the feasibility and the calculation error range of Fluent were prove, according tocomparing the resistance results of the two methods(ship model quickening test and numericalsimulation).(2) The ship model resistance for the two kinds of ship type (the double and tunnel ship)under the different conditions of navigation depth and speed was calculated by using thesoftware of Gambit and Fluent, which was used to modeling and the other was used tonumerical simulation. Then the shallow water resistance change law of eath ship type and therelevant conclusions were summarized according to the simulation results.(3) In view of the two kinds of ship types, the component of the resistancee results and theshallow performance under the different speed and depth conditions were compared to sum upthe influence of ship form to the shallow water resistance.(4) Eventually through the comparison of the resistance change trend and the related data、images and flow field distribution, it was concluded that the double type was the optimizationship form for the Heilongjiang and the conclusion would provide the necessary basisdemonstration for the ship type choice in the future.
