With the approaching of ocean times in all respects, the HOV technology hascome into the golden age of high-speed development, as one of the most importantmeans of deep-sea exploration and exploitation. A positive environment condition forthe comprehensive and rapid development of ocean technology has been created bythis new situation, and inevitably a series of new problems and challenges are broughtout at the same time.Scientific evaluation, which serves major scientific research projects as aconvincing foundation for project approval at the beginning and checking beforeacceptance in the end,is obviously of great importance and necessity. Reviewing theresearch and development status of the HOV technology, we have to admit that toolittle importance has been attached to scientific evaluation, and the research about it isfar from complete and mature.This paper, grounding on basic ergonomic ideas and focusing on the driver’ssecurity, comfort and efficiency, tries to initiate related research about the HOV cabinlayout plans’ comprehensive evaluation. The following aspects of research arecomprised in this paper.Firstly, the advantages and disadvantages of current normal evaluation methodsare analyzed. Considering that the characteristics of the evaluation index system forHOV design plans are massive and miscellaneous, quantitative indexes coexistingwith qualitative indexes, and indexes being of different importance, the FHCA (FuzzyHierarchy Comprehensive Assessment) is chosen as the main method to study theHOV cabin layout plans’ comprehensive evaluation.Secondly, the construction principles and analysis criterions of evaluation indexsystem are discussed, as well as the layout requirements of the HOV cabin on thebasis of ergonomic ideas. Furthermore the HOV cabin layout plans’ evaluation indexsystem and its hierarchy structure are created.Thirdly, the comprehensive evaluation process of the HOV cabin layout plans isproposed, and applied on an instance for testing and analysis. The evaluation processand details are illustrated by the applying course, and the availability and practicability of the proposed evaluation process are proved by the applying effects.Lastly, based on the proposed HOV cabin layout plans’ comprehensive evaluationprocess, a mathematical model of the HOV cabin3D layout optimization problem isestablished. The genetic algorithm combined with parallelism selection strategy isused to solve this problem. This part of research offers a new way to generate3Dspace layout plans automatically.
