Studies On Landscape Design Of Ornamental Bamboo Gardens

Ornamental bamboo is characterized by its stem, stem color, leaf shape, leaf color and posture, usually used for ornamental, including ornamental bamboo has not been widely popularized, but it still has potential values.This paper presents main researches about garden landscape construction of ornamental bamboo, plant landscape, and suitable bamboo in Hunan, that supported by academic literatures and investigation of several bamboo gardens. The main findings of this paper shown as:1. In China, the feature of bamboo garden constructions exhibited as various type of design, enriched bamboo resources, multiple landscape skills and culture diversity, through analyses typical cases in China. However, there are several issues about lack of collocations among bamboos, and between bamboo and other plants. As well as, regional characteristics and culture diversity of bamboo garden constructions are not prominent.2. According to characteristics of ornamental bamboo and basic principles of gardens construction, there is a comprehensive analysis about gardens construction design of ornamental bamboo. An optimal gardens construction should has five primary functions, which are scientific research, science popularization education, species conservation, ecological tourism, development and utilization, and promotion of demonstration. Also, it has to show an intension of science, features of garden, and distinct regional culture of ornamental bamboo construction. Then, it is necessary to utilizing these features into the reconstruction design of ornamental bamboo garden in Hunan Forest Botanical Garden.3. It also point out9patterns of landscape configuration of ornamental bamboo, that focusing on bamboo and bamboo, bamboo and other plants.4. There are113available and suitable resources of ornamental bamboo in Hunan and8recommended strategies of producing ornamental bamboo, based on the investigation of bamboo applying and participation of research programs in Hunan Forest Botanical Garden. Moreover, relevant information also presented for contributing to design and construct ornamental bamboo garden and other landscaping, to enrich plant resources and promote ornamental bamboo utilization, and playing an important role in utility value and guiding significance of ornamental bamboo.
