Poultry are very sensitive to light because of micro-structure of their eyes. Controlling the illumination conditions properly would promote the growth of poultry and maximize the profit in actual production conditions. Incandescent lamps, which have been widely used, are phasing out in poultry breeding with the implementation of policy on energy-saving and emission reduction. Whereas, lighting emitting diode (LED) are more controllable and more energy-saving, so LEDs become the most prospective light source in place of Filament lamps.For the lack of research and technical guidance of artificial light on poultry production with breeding mode of natural daylight combined with overnight artificial light."Meihuang" broiler was studied in this research, six different LED colors were used to compare the influence on productive performance, the best LED color in previous research was studied further to get better duration of artificial light and two better LED colors were studied to get better proportion.1. Three kinds of lighting sources (LED, fluorescent, incandescent) with6colors (red, yellow, green, blue, white, warm white) were chosen in this research to study the effect of different kinds of lighting sources and colors on productive performances of broilers. Results indicated that LED performed better in promoting weight gain and uniformity of boilers, in which Yellow LED performed best. White LED would increase the growth rate at the later stage of growing period significantly, and would decrease feed conversion ratio in the whole growing period.2. The effects of yellow LED with four kinds of light duration(Oh,4h,8h,12h) applied at night on productive performances of boilers were studied. Results indicated8hours of yellow light applied at night brought higher weight, higher uniformity of boilers, and lower feed conversion ratio.3. The effect of different proportions of yellow LED and white LED on productive performances of broilers were studied. Seven different proportions were chosen, white LED (W):yellow LED (Y)=6:0,5:1,4:2,3:3,2:4,1:5,0:6. Result indicated group W:Y=1:5taking on great effect on productive performances of boilers such as:promoting the growth of broiler weight gain, promoting legs and claws growth, reducing the opportunity of leg disease, concluded that proportion of W:Y=1:5is better in promoting "Meihuang" broilers’growth.
