With the railway mileage and AC drive locomotive ownership has increased year by year in China, it is particularly important to ensure the safety of the use of the core component of the locomotive electric drive system-the main transformer and the main converter. These core high-power electrical components most likely lead to break insulation layer due to high temperature or even result fire in serious consequences, So we must take some effective measures to cool these high-temperature power module.Radiator play a major role in the cooling system of electric locomotive. At today, many radiator production company develop and put their production into market, Especially Dalian Locomotive Research Institute independently develop and produce the overall load-bearing radiator, with its efficient cooling capacity, a reasonable core structure, easy maintenance, good reliability characteristics gradually go-to-market.which applicate on a variety of models of electric locomotives, for example the Datong Locomotive HXD2C type and Dalian Locomotive Company HXD3C type. This paper analyses structure of transformer and converter cooling system of whole bearing radiator, grasps general design method of the whole bearing radiator heat exchange technology principle and the type of product, on the basis of which, Firstly, rendering the whole bearing radiator core body entity model by3d drawing software,Secondly,Putting the model into a kind of mesh software to mesh the model, Setting good experiment and the actual work conditions, Finally, calculating by using finite element analysis software. The obtained data contrast to experimental data and to put forward the improvement scheme to meet the demand of design and actual use.
