With the growing of comprehensive strength of our country, the demand forelectric power is increasing year by year, nuclear energy power generation andthermal power, hydroelectric power gradually become the main power generation.Due to the exhaustion of fossil energy, as a clean and efficient energy, nuclear powerattracts the attention more and more. Safety of nuclear power plant become thedifficult problem of restricting its development. The canned primary pump motor isone of the key components in nuclear power stations, its safe operation and stabilityis very important to a loop system of the nuclear island.The motor works in high temperature and high pressure conditions, its heat andcooling are complex. This paper based on the analysis of research status of thetemperature and the fluid field. According to hydromechanics and heat transfertheory, physical model and mathematical of three dimensional temperature and fluidcoupled field was established for5500kW large canned motor of nuclear primarypump as an example. The temperature rise distribution of the motor under thenominal operating condition was calculated using the finite volume method. Theposition of maximum temperature rise in the motor was obtained. The part ofcalculation result of temperature field were compared with the test value, and thetemperature rise of stator strands, stator core, rotor bars, rotor core and cooling waterwere analyzed in detail as well. As the temperature rise of press board is high, threekinds of stator end physical models of different press board and tapered ring contactform were established. The temperature rise of press board and tapered ring werecalculated using the finite volume method. The results of stator end physical modelswere analyzed in detail, and the optimal contact form of stator end was obtained.In this paper, the fluid-thermal coupling numerical solution of canned primary pump motor which has very complex structure was obtained. Calculation resultsrevealed the regularity of temperature rise distribution for the canned primary pumpmotor, and provided the theory basis for cooling structure design and accuratetemperature calculation of canned primary pump motor of larger capacity.
