Steel pushing V-belt continuously variable transmission is the most popular CVT. Compared with traditional transmission, it can reduce the impact and power loss when shifting, and make the vehicle more comfortable, powerful and environmental friendly, so it has a good future for the study of steel pushing V-belt CVT. However, all the dynamical and tribological models in the researches are not perfect, which neglect the influence of oil-film. Therefore it has great research value to build a dynamical model that considers the impact of oil-film, and study the coupling between dynamic and tribology.Firstly, in order to obtain the theoretical equations of ring’s tension and block’s comprlession force, the force acting on the metal blocks and rings are analyzed based on Coulomb friction theory. A new friction model is built through analyzing the friction force between the pulley and blocks in ELT theory.Secondly, according to the actual size, the3D models in different speed ratio are built in Pro/Engineer. All the models are imported into ADAMS, and the metal rings are translated into flexible bodies through ANSYS.Thirdly, in order to built new steel pushing V-belt CVT dynamical models considering the coupling in ADAMS,the contact forces, sliding pairs, revolution joints and drive are added, and the Coulomb friction between the blocks and pulley is replaced by the new friction model that based on ELT theory.Fourthly, the compression force between blocks and the speed ratio are gained by using the dynamical models considering the coupling to simulate, and compare them to the results based on Coulomb friction. In order to fill the gap in these models, the ring’s tension which is from theory analysis is drawn in MATLAB.In the end, the friction curves are outputted and compared to the model results that based on Coulomb friction, the results show that the friction in coupling model is more close to the real fact.The idea and method used in the model created in this paper provide some useful clue and reference for establishing a steel pushing V-belt CVT dynamical model, and the new friction model based on ELT theory will improve the dynamical model, the simulation results presented in this study will provide theory basis and experimental data for the design and development of steel pushing V-belt CVT. In the end, a summary about the thesis is made, some suggestions are proposed for next work.
