ESP—the vehicle electronic stability program is a new type of vehicle active safety system. The electronic control system is jointly developed by BOSCH and MERCEDES-BENZ. While cars are driven during turning on the road with low adhesion coefficient or in high speed, the lateral force of the tyre usually attained to the Physical limit and the vehicle dynamies stability will be lost because of the exoterie disturbance or cornering, so the traffic accidents frequently happen. ESP—the vehicle electronic stability program is mainly working on the situation, It regulates the engine torque and the wheel brake pressures using traction control componnents to minimize the difference between the actual and the desired motion. So the car can be controlled by the driver at the emergency situation to keep the car running on safety.First,In this thesis,The soft ADAMS/Car is applied to creat the model of whole vehicle, which is verified and simulated to provide a correct vehicle model for the study of ESP, The MATLAB/simulink is applied to create freedoms ideal vehicle model which is used to compute the yaw rate and the vehicle slip angle in different steering angles and vehicle velocities. Based on the contribution of the single wheel braking to yaw moment which is conditional value of fuzzy controller and PID controller, according to the basic theory of the ESP. The control strategies by using single wheel braking can improve vehicle dynamics stability are brought forward. Then due to nonlinear and time-varying property of the ESP system,the fuzzy controller and the vehicle with robustness is selected. The input of controller is difference and changing rate of difference between the actual yaw and the ideal yaw, between the actual slip angle and the ideal slip angle. The output is the yaw moment that plays stability restoration role. Based on MATLAB/simulink platform, the mechanical model and controller are combined to compute operating model of the step angle,a single laned and fish hook. The results show that the vehicle performance with ESP is better than without ESP, the result of simulation show that the tracting performance becomes better, the yaw rate and the vehicle slip angle is all controlled better. Generally speaking, ESP could improve the handling stability,the driving stability and the active safety.
