With the increasing scarcity of land resources, beginning to explore resources inthe sea has become the consensus and development priorities among the internationaloil giants. It is promoting the rapid development of marine engineering equipmentindustry. In the field of marine equipment manufacturing design, the top companies arepartly in Europe and America. The Chinese companies still infancy. At the same time,the phenomenon that the work needs to be done again in the process of the marineequipment construction is very serious and prevalent because of the weakness of thedetailed construction design capacity. Therefore, it is imminent to enhance the levelsof production, construction and design.The applicable specifications and design standardization of the FPSO being themajor marine equipment are more stringent than conventional marine vessels.Nevertheless, Systematic research literature concerned about the manufacture andmodification design of the FPSO still a gap inboard. So the paper focuses on thestandardization work of all aspects of the FPSO Production Design System. It aims atexploring and establisn the marine production design system with abroad applicabilityby combining the practical versatility of domestic shipyards in order to improve thedesign techniques on marine field of domestic shipyards. First, the production design.models of marine projects and conventional shipbuilding are compared and analyzedin this paper. What’s more, the present statuses at home and abroad are studied and thespecialties of marine project design are summarized. Secondly, through studying theproduction design process standardization of the floating production storage vessel(FPSO) that is reconstructed from a28TON Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), theproduction design system files of marine projects are established. Finally, byresearching the practical application of marine production design in reconstructingFPSO, suggestions for improving projects and measures are put forward and marineproduction design are further improved and solidified.
